campaign photography
Mr. Bill Mahon, "California's Premier People & Commercial Photographer" has been all over the country specializing in commercial and editorial photography. Experience and training has made him an expert in lighting, composition and style. He has a passion for people and their lives.
Anti-racism photography
This is showing the head of the 4 people because they all have different skin colour. Also the chimpanzee at the top of the family tree is indicating that we all evolve from the same animal. The photographer has added an orange effect to all the faces because he is trying to make them all look the same. He has a black background because to make the faces have an impact on the picture.
This photograph is showing a upset dog with a medium depth of field. There are no shadows but there is a quote saying "It's 2014 and we don't have flying cars yet... ... or colour TV". This means that through a dogs eyes everything is the same colour and everybody has the same skin colour. Linking it back to the dog it could be upset because everyone is treating others unfairly and discriminating against other races.
Anti-Bullying
In this picture there is a boy whose crying because he is getting strangled by a hand. That hand is full of bad words that would make the child cry. I think this was taken in a studio so the lighting could just be around the kid. The shadows in the corners add impact to the picture and makes the child stand out.
anti-racism or anti-bullying?
I chose the anti-racism campaign because I have suffered racists comment and I want that to stop! I want to promote anti-racism campaign photography so that people that discriminate realize that they would not like it and should stop.
Take 1
Plan:
- I shall need 1 white egg
- I shall need 5 brown eggs
- I want to create a story where the egg feels bullied and commits suicide
- I will use the egg holder to put the eggs on and have a small depth of field with the focus point on the the white egg. To show empathy on the egg as I will draw a face on it that is crying. Also have a bystander looking at them as most people do.
- “I have a dream that one day my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character”
- Martin Luther King Jnr.

worst take
This is my worst take because the light was set on tungsten so the picture was more white and the focus point was on the second egg. Also you can see the end of the table with ruins the layout of the picture as I wanted to keep the focus on the bystander because it just shows how people normally by-stand when they see others get bullied or racially abused.
best take
This is my best take before editing because the focus point is in the middle and it has a large depth of field.
As it shows all the brown eggs are picking on the white egg.
As it shows all the brown eggs are picking on the white egg.
after edit
This is my best take because the background is very effective as the smoke comes from the bottom and spreads out near the top. You can see the egg in the middle is crying because it is getting racially abused as the eggs surrounding it are a different colour to the one in the middle. I could have made this better if I took this in a natural setting with a spot of light shining on the white egg.
take 2
Plan:
- I will take a photo of someone with all the focus on them
- I will surround the person using Asian stereotypes
- In big red letters I will say STOP!
- I will take a photo of someone with all the focus on them
- I will surround the person using Asian stereotypes
- In big red letters I will say STOP!
final take
This is my final and best take because I've got some Asian stereotypes that most people think about. I used a plain background because it adds a bright colour with the red writing saying "STOP".
take 3
Plan:
- Get a volunteer
- Using face paint, I'm going to paint half of their hand a darker/lighter tone than their actual skin colour
- Get a black background
- Get a volunteer
- Using face paint, I'm going to paint half of their hand a darker/lighter tone than their actual skin colour
- Get a black background
worst take
This is my worst take because the layout of this image does not fit like I wanted it to. Also in my opinion, the image is overexposed because I wanted a darker feel for it.
best take
This is my best take because I have edited the right side of the hand so it looks darker than the actual paint. Also the word 'same' represents the two skin colours that are used on the hand.
take 4
Plan:
- I'm going to take a picture of a volunteer's face
- I will Photoshop a white background
- Add some stereotypes
- Use the monochrome setting on the camera

my version
take 5
Plan:
- I am going to take a close up and then a long shot
- On the close up I will write "Terrorist?"
- On the long shot I will write "Student"
- I am going to take a close up and then a long shot
- On the close up I will write "Terrorist?"
- On the long shot I will write "Student"
FINAL TAKE
Take 6
Plan:
- Take a picture of a person in a corridor
- Add text for the picture to seem like the person is upset due to racism
- Take a picture of a person in a corridor
- Add text for the picture to seem like the person is upset due to racism
Worst
This is my worse edit because all the text red and that doesn't really add to the picture of sadness. Also the text is the same font making it add no real sympathy. Even though the photograph is really effective.
Best
This is my best edit because it's not too much text and also the text is not the same font. Furthermore, the word "alone" is a different colour to the actual sentence making it more effective. I have made the "Call for help" the same colour as the outline of the ChildLine logo. Even the photograph on it's own is really effective as I imply that the person is on the floor upset because everyone surpasses racist comments towards him.
Evaluation
I have had fun at having a stab in campaign photography. It was interesting to know that how 1 picture could say 100 words. Overall, I think that I have understood the styles of the photographers. The pictures which I took in campaign photography have a message in every pictures. My photographs have allowed me to develop ideas in which I can make in my own styles. I think that I have done well in the campaign photography.
